Double award for Lomax Training Services - Posted 27th June 2005.

In just four years, Lomax Training Services (LTS) has established itself as one of the country's leading companies training hundreds of people every year to meet demand for skilled people across the energy sector.
Set up by managing director Jim Lomax, LTS specialises in standard and bespoke technical training for the gas industry covering domestic, commercial and industrial sectors and gas engineering. In the last year the Company has successfully diversified into other utility sector work. They also deliver Government training programmes and supervisory and management training.
Based in Sunderland with four training centres across the North East, LTS has seen remarkable growth since its foundation in 2000. It has grown from five to 26 employees, whilst sales have grown from £160,000 in 2001/02 to around £1.1 million in 2004/05. In less than four years more than 3,000 individuals have successfully undertaken Lomax courses.
LTS holds the Investor in People (IIP) and ISO 2001 Quality Management Awards and the IIP Silver Award for Outstanding Practice for New Business.
Its success has been in winning repeat business from clients ranging from major utilities like Transco and British Gas to contracting organisations, local authorities and individuals.
The two Small Business of the Year awards said Jim, are welcome recognition of the achievements of the staff and the hard work which has gone into creating the success story.
"Our team haven't just worked very hard to deliver phenomenal growth but they have daily embraced new ideas and technology whilst retaining that all important customer focus which has underlined our business success," he said.
"It hasn't just been the team though - I am extremely grateful to our many clients who have backed us throughout our development and return again and again with more business."
There is however no standing still for LTS. The Company's success diversification into other areas has provided further encouragement for the future and LTS is on course to realise its vision to establish a Centre of Excellence for energy sector training.
